Por un golpe de suerte hace un par de semanas pude adquirir un pequeño libro recopilatorio de la retrospectiva que dedicó el MOMA (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Nueva York) al magnífico Tim Burton, donde se exhibieron
dibujos,guiones,pinturas y fotografías de sus películas así como algunas figuras hechas por Burton como modelos de sus películas de animación y muchos otros objetos extraños.

Después de 14 largometrajes y mas de 20 años de carrera , resulta un lugar común cualquier cosa que pueda escribir sobre el trabajo de Burton, sin embargo la adquisición de está recopilación me hizo releer su primer libro “The melancholy Death of Oyster Boy&Other stories“(1997) y revalorar algunos de sus films.

Tras una retrospectiva llamada “La anarquía del silencio“hecha por el Museo de Arte contemporáneo de Barcelona (MACBA) el año pasado, sobre el trabajo del visionario artista John Cage , donde se recopilo mas de 200 obras de material audiovisual y partituras del autor, la obra de Cage ha sido revalorada en muchos aspectos para bien de la música.

Esta retrospectiva en MACBA me hizo recordar una serie de increíbles documentales para la BBC del multifacético artista británico Peter Greenaway, llamada “Four American Compousers“ en donde plasma el trabajo de Meredith Monk,Phillip Glass,Robert Ashley y por supuesto John Cage, personajes que definitivamente revolucionaron el mundo de los sonidos.

DRAW is the largest contemporary drawing exhibition to emerge out of New York City. It is a must-see art exhibition featuring original drawings by more than 450 artists in the illustration, graffiti, tattoo, literature, design, animation, skateboard, music, psychedelic art worlds. The show is a tribute to the often-underrated but fundamental building block of visual and graphic art: the drawing.
