Selfmade Lego DJ Set (D.I.Y.)

You need…

wood core plywood
wood glue
set of threaded bars, screw nuts, flat washers, anchor sleeves and plaster
woodscrews
elbows, big ones
Lego (approx. 1.400 pieces), new from the Lego online store. You can also buy used ones, but you won’t get the brighter colours (light green and orange) and new bricks really look way better
Total costs: approx. 400 Euros (500$).

Step 1
Planning, planning, calculating, planning. To take the measurement of the Lego case we recommend to build the ground structure out of Lego bricks you already posess.

Step 2
Cut the Wood core plywood in pieces you need or ask your carpenter to do it for you.

Step 3
Insert two little cut-outs. You need one at the front for attaching your headphones to the mixer and a second one to lead through the cables. After these steps each piece should be glued and screwed to the bottom board.

Step 4
Use elbows to reinforce every corner. Drill four holes in constant distances through the back, hold the corpus against the wall you are going to attach it to. Now you are able to mark the position of the holes you need to drill into the wall. Please make sure your wall is able to bear approx. 40 kg (88 lbs). You really need solid walls made of bricks.

Step 5
Drill four really big holes into the wall.

Step 6
Put anchorsleeves in the holes and fill them with plaster. You need to do that one by one and put the threaded bars in the plaster filled holes. Plaster bonds really fast.

Step 7
Wait until plaster is hardened (at least two hours) and put the DJ deck on the threaded bars. Put the flat washers on and fix the screw nuts.

Step 8
Put turntables and mixer in the right position.

Step 9
Build the Lego case using your favourite colours. You don’t need to glue the Lego. Don’t forget the little cut-outs!

Step 10
Put the Lego case around the wooden corpus (we nailed some of the plates on the upper side. You need to drill the Lego before nailing it to the wooden corpus) and put Lego tiles on top.
