Khalid K “la máquina de ruidos del Magreb“ (Cátedra Bergman ,Museo del Chopo)

Como parte de la sesión VII de la Cátedra Ingmar Bergman dedicada a los “Paisajes Sonoros“ se presentó el artista marroquí Khalid K , quién se distingue por trabajar con sonidos y ruidos para crear escenarios en conjunto con un lenguaje corporal explícito.
Afincado en Paris desde hace mas de 30 años , Khalid retorna a sus raíces árabes para hacer un pequeño tributo a sus ancestros e incorporar muchas de sus tradiciones a su espectáculo llamado “ La Vuelta al Mundo en 80 voces“ que lo ha llevado literalmente a conocer muchos países en Europa,Africa y Latino America.
El trabajo del músico marroquí se basa en la repetición de “loops“ con “timings“ perfectamente bien planeados para crear atmósferas y escenarios llenos de sonidos. Con el uso de 10 canales para almacenar los ruidos que va creando y que son sampleados gracias a un pedal que los guarda y los reproduce conforme los vaya requiriendo.
Lo que mas destaca de su trabajo es su dominio escénico, en un estilo circense , con el que reinterpreta las tonalidades de varios idiomas , que no sabe pero que parecería dominar, buen espectáculo el de esta “máquina de ruidos del Magreb“.

The Joshua Light Show, founded by multimedia artist Joshua White, are perhaps the most legendary visualists of live music. As resident artists at Bill Graham’s Fillmore East during the late 1960’s, and in performances at Woodstock, Newport Jazz Festival, Tanglewood, Carnegie Hall, and the classic film, Midnight Cowboy, White and his cohorts created live, colorful, psychedelic projections behind the great bands of that era including The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, and The Who.

In a reversal of expectations typical of him, Archer Prewitt is a cartoonist by day and a rock star by night touring and recording as a solo artist, and with his band "The Sea and The Cake".
Prewitt was born in Kentucky in 1963. He studied at the Kansas City Art Institute in Missouri and graduated with a printmaking degree in 1985. Music lured Archer away from the graphic arts in the late 1980s (not for the last time) and since then he has been a staple in the Chicago indie rock scene for most of the past ten years in such bands as The Coctails and The Sea and Cake.
But he couldn’t stay away from the comics and he began self-publishing his Sof' Boy mini-comics in the 1990s and these colorful and nostalgic absurdist adventures made their way into anthologies and collections. Funny Bunny, another Prewiit character makes regular appearances in a number of Chicago area magazines and publications.
Sof’ Boy #1 and 2 were published by Drawn & Quarterly Books in 1997 and 1998. Thy quickly sold out and the big Econo Combo was published in 2000.
People ask all the time when there will be a new Sof’Boy.
